Memorial Day in LaCrosse
We had a wonderful day together. First we went to the parade-which just happened to be across from a Java Detour. I am not kidding. Yes, that is my cup in the chair holder and the kids had treats. Emma loved the bands, especially the flag twirlers. Alex loved the train engine and fire truck.
Then we went to riverside park to feed the ducks left over banana bread, whole wheat homeade bread, and white bread. The squirrels liked the banana bread, the ducks the white and tiny birds the whole wheat. Then we went to the Friendship Garden to see the fish in the pond and there was a turtle on one of the rocks. We went on an adventure down a path over an old train track bridge. This lead to endless "why" questions, so many we had to leave. On our way back from the foutain we saw the train engine from the parade and Alex just noticed the bald eagle. I sometimes wonder about his eye sight.
Emma has been wanting a picture by these statues for a while. These two kids are from the early 1900's waving at ships leaving or coming-I can not remember(it is made after an actual picture).
